EHREN JORDAN - WINEMAKER
Ehren Jordan, a winemaker known for his hands-on farming practices and minimalist winemaking techniques, returned to California to work at Neyers Vineyards and Turley Wine Cellars. He later purchased land on the Sonoma Coast and founded Failla Wines in 1998, using grapes from various cool-climate vineyards. In 2011, he added to his vineyard holdings with the purchase of the Olivet Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Despite not having a formal degree in fermentation science, Ehren's background in Art History and Classical Archeology, along with his experience working at Bell's Wine Shop, as a sommelier, and as a tour guide at Joseph Phelps Vineyard, led to his successful winemaking career.
Ehren returned to California and began his career in winemaking at Neyers Vineyards and Turley Wine Cellars. He later purchased a piece of land in Sonoma Coast and planted it with Chardonnay and Syrah, leading to the creation of Failla Wines in 1998. The winery has since added various cool-climate vineyard sources to their bottles and in 2011, Ehren acquired the Olivet Vineyard, giving him an additional 14 acres to farm. His hands-on farming practices and minimalist winemaking approach, influenced by his training in France, have allowed him to showcase the unique characteristics of different varieties and regions in California. Despite not having a formal degree in fermentation science, Ehren's success can be attributed to his journey starting as a stock boy at Bell's Wine Shop, a sommelier and manager of a restaurant, and an apprenticeship with Jean-Luc after working as a tour guide at Joseph Phelps Vineyard.
MIKE WOLF - WINEMAKER
Mike Wolf discovered his passion for agriculture in 1972 while assisting a friend on a family farm in Mendocino County, California. He learned that farming is a process, not an event, and that those who try to conquer nature ultimately lose. He has been managing and farming our 27-acre estate vineyard organically since 2008, working in tandem with winemakers Robert Smith and Philippe Melka to grow grapes that can be crafted into wines of distinction and elegance. Wolf's vineyard services company has over 45 clients and represents over 700 acres, including many of Napa Valley's leading independent growers. He has been a board trustee for the California Grower Foundation since 1987, a director of the Napa County Farm Bureau from 1986-1998, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation.
